Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to the 12th annual scientific meeting of the European Association of Consultation Liaison Psychiatry and Psychosomatics, dedicated to ‘Evidence Based Medicine in CL psychiatry and psychosomatics.’

In the past decade, evidence based medicine (EBM) has changed clinical practice considerably. In the past, the choice for a specific approach was primarily based on the opinion and expertise of clinical teachers and ones own experience. Nowadays treatments have to based on scientific evidence as much as possible. Is the EBM approach also possible in the field of CL psychiatry and psychosomatics? What are the consequences of an evidence based approach for our daily routines? How can co morbidity be accounted for in guidelines? Which areas of CL psychiatry and psychosomatics from specific challenges for EBM? Is EBM a threat to professional autonomy? These and other issues will be the topic of discussion.

The conference is set in the recently renovated NH Conference Centre Leeuwenhorst in Noordwijkerhout, a beautiful location bordering on the tulip fields and within walking distance from the dunes and North sea. The location is easily accessible by public transport from Schiphol international airport (15 kilometres) and from the major cities Amsterdam, Leiden and the Hague (all within 30 kilometres). You will have ample opportunity to meet friends and colleagues, and to make new acquaintances. We hope to see you in Noordwijkerhout.
